I am probably like many of you. During Covid,I have spent a lot of time indoors and haven't been moving near as much as I should. There are a few extra pounds and I lose my breath a little faster than I use to. Last weekend I decided to invest in my health and get my ass moving and purchased the Echelon Spin bike. It is similar to the Peleton but had a better sale price. I love it and have been on it everyday. That's the good news. The bad news is that the scale hasn't moved and my clothes are still a bit tight. This is exactly how it feels when you start to invest and save money. This is why so many people go for the get rich quick ads or the lose 20 pounds without exercising and eating all the foods you like. Exercising, nutrition, and investing money all take time and patience. It is your daily habits that will get you where you want to go. Find an online calculator that calculates compound interest. For an example run the calculation if you invest $500 per month from age 20 to 30 and keep it invested until age 65. Then use a 5% return. Then do another calculation where you start at age 30 and contribute all the way to 65 and check out the 2 numbers. No, I am not giving them to you. I would love for you to put the numbers in the comments!! Do the work online yourself. Compound interest is magical. It applies so much in our lives especially with our fitness and finances. If you want to keep it really simple, think about brushing your teeth twice a day. What would happened if you stopped doing it for 10 years and then started again? My message is have patience and do the small things everyday and you will win. Quick fixes rarely work and often when they do, it is temporary.
